On the 9th of April 2009 the annual monitoring of the Burgzand Noord testarea in the Wadden Sea was performed.
The ship Veluwemeer of the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management equipped with multibeam recorder and side scan sonar set out to perform the task. This was the seventh year on row that such recordings were made of the Burgzand Noord area. With the new results of 2009 there appears a good and detailed picture of the condition of the wrecks and seabed in the area.
This time a crew of Dutch Noord Holland television accompanied us to make a documentary on the monitoring work performed within the MACHU project.
All in all we set out with ten people the regular crew, RWS, RACM and tv crew. So it was pretty crowded on the small vessel. The weather was superb and conditions nearly ideal. The recordings went very well.
At first glance the new results indicate that there appears to emerge a new wreck from under the seabed. If so this is exciting news. |
