The primary goal of the MACHU project is to make information about underwater cultural heritage accessible for academic purposes, policy makers and for the general public. The managing of cultural heritage underwater is moving towards in situ preservation.
Does this mean that we - the public - have no access to - or can not experience our underwater cultural richness?
Machu is participating in the exhibition: emmers vol verhalen (buckets full of stories). In this exhibition one can look over the shoulder of the (underwater)archaeologist. What is it like to investigate archaeological sites underwater? How much can a diver see underwater? What are the primary subjects archaeologists are investigating underwater?
The machu exhibition is trying to give some answers on this interactive exhibition were the public can step into the roll of an archaeologist.
This educational presentation on MACHU & Cultural heritage underwater is developed by Artekino for RACM (Rijksdienst voor Archeologie, Cultuurlandschap & Monumenten).
